Housing intake applications will be placed on hold until Late 2024 due to construction to support and enhance housing services for our families.

Please note that programming will proceed and applications will continue for these services.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Please see our House of Homes page to learn more about this exciting project, and the additional apartments we are adding to our Campus House!

CAMPUS HOUSING
PROGRAM

Our Campus Housing Program offers housing and parenting supports on campus at Fresh Start. These supportive apartments are perfect for someone that would like to live independently, but would like the reassurance of having supports nearby. Families can live in the Campus Housing Program for up to a year and have access to all programming that Fresh Start offers including attachment parenting, system navigation, and child development monitoring.  Staff are available to meet with your family one on one to help families and children meet their goals.

While the Campus Housing Program does provide housing, participation in programming is required.

FAQ

HOW LONG CAN I STAY?

Residents stay for up to one year.

AM I ALLOWED TO HAVE VISITORS?

Yes. All visitors must be approved by staff to ensure safety for yourself and for the other residents that live at Fresh Start. Visiting hours are between 9am - 9pm. Fresh Start reserves the right to refuse entry of a visitor.

HOW MUCH AM I ALLOWED TO BRING WITH ME?

Because of the limited space in our apartments, each resident may bring two large suitcases of personal items when moving in.

HOW IS MY STAY FUNDED?

No one is turned away because of inability to pay. If you are eligible, you may apply for government assistance to cover the rent costs. Immediately following admission, staff will assist in the Ontario Works application process. Rent is due upon receipt of the first social assistance cheque. Rent rates are determined based on individual circumstances. Upon admission, a $200.00 security deposit is required. This deposit may be returned following discharge in part or in full taking into consideration; cost of key replacement, costs of cleaning, and damages done to the apartment.

The funds provided through rent cover approximately 20% of the cost to run the organization. The remaining 80% of funds comes through individual donations from community members and other organizations such as churches and service clubs.

IS PROGRAMMING AT FRESH START OPTIONAL FOR ME TO ATTEND?

No. All programming offered in-house must be completed during your stay at Fresh Start.
